The Dallas Cowboys have had a disappointing season full of injuries and underachievement.
Looking ahead, the team has many needs in the NFL Draft, and they could use their first-round pick to address perhaps the biggest one.
CBS Sports' Blake Brockermeyer predicted the Cowboys would draft Ashton Jeanty from Boise State with the 13th pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.
Jeanty is the best running back in college football and has a chance to win the Heisman Trophy.
"The Cowboys' running back rotation has been underwhelming, and Jeanty provides an immediate upgrade," wrote Brockermeyer.
"With elite contact balance and the speed to break big plays, Jeanty is a difference-maker who has been the most productive back in college football this season." Jeanty was chasing a long-standing Barry Sanders record for single-season rushing yards.
He ended the regular season with 2,288 rushing yards and 28 touchdowns.
Sanders ran for 2,628 yards in his record-breaking season.
However, Jeanty could still reach the mark in the College Football Playoff.
The Cowboys are near the bottom of the league in every rushing statistic.
The team failed to add an impact running back in free agency and it shows.
Jeanty is a generational talent at the position and would instantly be on of the best offensive players the Cowboys have.
That is saying a lot considering they have CeeDee Lamb.
Spending a first-round pick on a running back can be risky.
However, the Cowboys did so for Ezekiel Elliot and got a lot out of him.
Jeanty could potentially fix the Cowboys' rushing offense overnight.
The only question is if Jerry Jones makes the pick.
